Endang's visit to Lakefield Hospitality College!

Last month one of our chefs Endang Gonzales was invited to take a session at Lakefield Hospitality College in London. Lakefield opens their doors to young students who are embarking on their culinary journey. The college is supported by The PM Trust, a charity of which our Founding Director, Ruston Toms is chairman.

The PM Trust aims to promote the hospitality industry as a career of choice for young people and help them improve their development and career prospects with financial assistance and support from the trust.

Endang is a natural teacher and with her wealth of knowledge and experience, we knew the students would gain a lot. She worked with a group of students studying at Levels 2 and 3, Endang taught them how to make her authentic Indonesian Chicken Rendang, a popular curry packed with flavour.

The session involved understanding how to work with spices, how to balance their flavours together, and how to cook with them successfully.

Endang said:

“The students worked hard and we had a lot of fun, they have the skills to be amazing chefs.

I love to teach people, I have been working with Blue Apple for 18 years, and what I have enjoyed the most is teaching and sharing my skills with others.

With 25 years of experience in the kitchen now is the perfect time for me to share my knowledge with the next generation of talented chefs.

The students were amazing and it was clear to see how much they wanted to be in the kitchen. It’s exciting to see and fills me with great hope for the future of hospitality!”

Endang has been invited back to lead a patisserie session, which we know will go down a storm having tasted her cakes.

A great session was had by all and we are sure the students are looking forward to learning even more in the future.
